My name is Rebekah Marchilena. I am a teacher and a mother. Those are the two most important identifiers for me.
Where have I lived? I grew up in Massachusetts, went off to college in New York, moved back to Massachusetts, moved to Wisconsin, and then moved back to Massachusetts. Something tells me I should just stay in Massachusetts.
My Education
Undergraduate: University of Rochester, B.A. in American Sign Language, B.S. in Neuroscience, teaching certification in American Sign Language as a Second Language.
Graduate: Boston University, M.Ed. in Deaf Education, teaching certification in Deaf education, biology, and chemistry.
Post Graduate: Edgewood College, Ed.D. in Educational Leadership (pending completion of dissertation), administrative certification as a principal, superintendent, and curriculum director.
I live by the words of Confucius: Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life. I firmly believe that this is not only true, but it is exactly what I have done. I love teaching. I get up in the morning with ideas of what new things I can do with my students running through my head. I am constantly working to make myself a better teacher so that I can provide the best education possible to my students.
